UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Spinecheek (or "maroon") anemonefish - this is my favorite type of anemonefish, and these were the most brilliantly colored (more orange than maroon) ones I've ever seen!

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Mantis shrimp (4-6 inches long) - uses his front claws (tucked under like a praying mantis) to lash out and stun/kill prey. Supposedly, this snapping of his claws is one of the fastest actions in all of nature, earning this fellow the nickname "thumb-cracker" because it is capable of shattering the bones in a human hand

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Mantis shrimp eyes are supposedly the most complex eyes in all of nature, with thousands of different receptors for light/color/shape, etc. As can be seen here, they swivel independently and are constantly alert for danger or potential prey.

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > False clownfish with eggs - he/she spent a lot of time "blowing" on the eggs, presumably to keep them aerated

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Coconut Octopus - since he couldn't find a full coconut to hide in, he is making the most of a few coconut pieces and a part of a manmade "shell"

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > A cavern in the Misool area of Raja Ampat

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Hawksbill turtle

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Shrimp goby - if I were naming him, I'd call him a "bulldog goby"!

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Porcupine puffer - huge (2ft long)

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Shrimp goby with shrimp - a symbiotic relationship, in which the goby stands watch, while the shrimp excavates/shovels sand out of the hole.

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Devilfish - normallly buried in the sand so they're nearly invisible, they move by crawling along. Rarely to you see their fins fully open/flared like this.

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Anglerfish (commonly called frogfish). This fellow has his "lure" extended where he wiggles it in front of his face - if some little fish comes near to investigate, he will swallow it in one gulp.

UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Winged pipefish eye - I was trying out a super-macro lens combination (150mm Sigma lens with 2X teleconverter, for effective focal length of 300mm), and I literally could not get his hole head in one shot, even though his eye is only about the size of a pinhead. UNDERWATER REFLECTIONS > Scorpionfish can alter their coloration to match their surroundings. In this case, this fellow is trying to blend in with an orange sponge!
