Hawksbill Turtle and Pair of French Angelfishes
The highlight of the trip for me was a dive where Luke and I - just 10 minutes into a dive - came across this turtle munching on a sponge, and two French angels hovering, hoping for scraps. We spent almost the entire dive with the trio*, and I've included several other photos in this gallery. * I learned years ago that, when I come across a great subject, it's important not to just snap a few shots and move on. Opportunities like this arise so seldom that it's worth devoting the rest of the dive to it -
letting the subject(s) get used to you so that you can get REALLY close without spooking them (most of these photos were taken with a fisheye lens from 1-2 feet away).
