We spend one day diving (although it was almost like snorkeling, as we were in less than 10 feet of water) at the edge of a forest of mangroves. It really is amazing that these trees are able to flourish in salt water, and it is strange to see coral growing around - and even ON - their roots.
Where the mangrove forest meets the sea...
Mangrove roots provide a place of refuge for small schooling fish, and the nearby shallow reef is home to scores of young fish.
