Ornate (also called "Harlequin") ghost pipefish (2 inches). This "head down" vertical position is actually a normal position for ghost pipefishes, since it allows them to look like a branch of coral or crinoid.
Ornate (also called "Harlequin") ghost pipefish in a crinoid. Note that because red is not generally visible to other sea creatures (red light waves are absorbed in the first 15 feet of water), his red coloration would not make him "stand out" like this against the blue crinoid. We see his true color because of the strobe on my camera, which sheds the full spectrum of light on him.
Pygmy seahorse (approx. 1/2 inch tall) - the tiniest type of seahorse/pipefish. Note how its body color and texture mimic the coral on which it lives!
