This is an old film photo from many years ago - back when they encouraged scratching the bellies of passing mantas (that is no longer allowed). Note how its eye is as big as Rick's head!!
Spotted eagle rays have always been one of my favorite creatures because they are so graceful as they glide on the currents. I saw (and was close to) more of them on one Galapagos trip than all my previous diving combined! Truly a highlight of the trip for me.
